The AI Automation Opportunity Score measures how much of your team's weekly time goes to work that automation handles well, adjusted for how hard each kind of work is to automate. A higher score means more time that could realistically be returned.
Each of the 14 work areas earns 0 to 3 points based on the weekly time you report: rarely or never is 0, under 2 hours is 1, 2 to 10 hours is 2, and more than 10 hours is 3. Points are weighted by complexity (full weight for low complexity, 85% for medium, 70% for high). The score is that weighted total as a share of the highest total possible for your answers' complexity levels, from 0 to 100.
Time spent is the starting point, not the whole answer. The processes that pay off best usually share these traits:
Work that is structured and rules-based usually needs plain workflow automation, not AI. AI earns its place when the input is messy, such as emails, documents, or free-text requests. For the full picture, see AI and automation consulting.
Start with frequent, rules-based work that takes measurable time and has low complexity, such as data entry between systems, scheduling, recurring reports, or lead follow-up. These are usually faster to automate and easier to measure than judgment-heavy work.

It is a directional starting point. Teams often underestimate time spent on small, repeated tasks. An assessment that observes the work and measures a baseline gives a more reliable picture.
